This week we have the imponderable pleasure of passing over the blog reins to a wonderful friend and customer.
In this blog post, the talented Ailis of Bibbidy Bobbidy Studio Portrush teaches us how to love our denim jacket again!
Hi my name is Ailis. I'm currently in the process of fullfilling my dream, opening my very own little creative space, Bibbidy Bobbidy Studio's in Portrush, Northern Ireland. My aim to inspire others to be passionate and positive about life. My passion in the creative world is fabric and textiles ... and I find endless inspiration here at FabricYard!
The world of upcycling provides you and your wardrobe with endless opportunities. You don't have to be a whizz on a sewing machine to turn an old unloved piece of clothing into your new favourite. Own your clothes! Allow them to show you're proud to be you!
Have you a dull drab denim in your wardrobe? Bring it bang up to date with a make over ! Give your denim jacket a personality make a statement, infuse some life and stand out in the crowd.
It's really simple! Here's how:
1. Select your material to fit the back of your jacket.
2. Select your trimming and tassels
3. Stitch it all together!
Look what I did for my friend Grant- Making his statement in 'Roller Disco Black' from Alexander Henry.
Here's another I made using 'Lost at Sea in Tea' again by Alexander Henry.
Got some scraps of fabric left over from another project? You don't need a full panel. This merchant has used imagery from 'Fridas Garden in Black' and sewn small sections on the front and back.
